                                                                      A total of  517,311 candidates from various private and public Junior High Schools took this year's Basic Education Certificate Examination. In a press realease signed  by Mrs Agnes Teye-Cudjoe  the head of Public affairs of the West African Examination Council on Thursday August 29, 2019,  A total of 173 candidates had some of their results canceled  for carrying foreign materials to the exam hall while 19 candidates had their entire results canceled for bringing mobile phones to the exam hall. The council has also with-hold 2,497 subjects results for alerged malpractices pending conclusion of investigation.                             ...

University of Ghana in a recent release on its website has published a new residential fees for the 2019/2020 academic year with a 5% increase in that of 2017/2018 academic year for the traditional  halls  after weeks of deliberation and consultation by authorities and pressures from students of the university of Ghana on how much to pay as residential fees. Residents in the fully university owned (traditional halls) which includes; Mensah sarbah hall, Commonwealth hall, Volta hall, Legon hall, and Akuafo halls are to pay 853 cedis instead of 812 cedis that was paid the previouse years, this shows a slight increment of about 41 cedis representing 5%  on what was being charged before. Residents in the diaspora halls i.e Dr Hilla Liman hall, Elizabeth sey hall, Jean Nelson ackah hall and Alexanda Kwapong halls are to pay 1,790 cedis. source: universnewsroom.com

Her ladyship Justice Sophia Adinyira; a. Justice of the supreme court of Ghana has stated that the methods used by Anas Aremeyaw Anas and his tiger eye private investors in investigating corruption is problematic. The judge made the statement at university of Ghana during her interaction with some students. Justice Sophia Adinyira is a supreme court judge who has sat on various landmark cases including the 2012 presidential election petition filed by the then losing candidate Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo and the new patriotic party.   Recently there has been hot controversies among politicians in Ghana  following the disclosure made by the Honourable minister of education Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh about government's intention to adopt the double-track or semester system for Senior high schools in Ghana. Some politicians especially the minority has argued strongly that the system is totally bad and that its going to break down the entire senior high education in the country, On the contrary, government has maintained that the system is not going to interfere in the effectiveness of teaching and leaning but rather going to create more space at the Senior high schools.
